WFCOM Public Meeting About SRE In Schools

Attention all Muslim parents with children in state, faith or independent schools.

The government have announced that Sex and Relationship Education (SRE) will be made statutory in schools from September 2019. This affects primary and secondary schools.

Parents and other stakeholders are being asked to take part in a consultation on what should be taught and the guidance which underpins the subject.

*It is important that all Muslim parents respond to the consultation*.

SRE Islamic are running sessions across the country that will equip you to respond effectively.


Yusuf Patel, founder of SREIslamic , which supports parents to challenge inappropriate SRE in schools and supports them to discuss sensitive subjects in line with our values.

Facing the Challenges of Social Media – Workshop

Waltham Forest Muslim Parents Association are holding a workshop for both parents and children that will look at how social media affects our children and what guidance Islam offers us. Case studies will also be presented on the options available to parents to discuss with their children.

The workshop is being held between 11:30 and 13:30 on Sunday 17th December at The Hub, 437-443 High Road, Leyton, London E10 5EL.

Takbeer al Tashreeq

‘Yaum-ul-arafah’ (day of arafah or 9th Dhul Hijjah) falls on Thursday 31st August this year.

It is wajib (obligatory) to recite takbeer al tashreeq from after the fard of fajr salaah on the 9th of Dhul Hijjah until after the fard of the asar salaah on the 13th of Dhul Hijjah.

Waltham Forest Interfaith Walk

On 2nd July 2017, Chingford Masjid was pleased to be part of the Waltham Forest Interfaith Walk organised by the Waltham Forest Faith Communities Forum. Members from different faiths were welcomed into our mosque in time for the midday prayers (Zuhr) with some members actively taking part. We were also humbled by the presence of the Mayor of Waltham Forest, Councillor Yemi Osho.
